Waipu Walk and Cycleway
The Waipū Walk and Cycleway is a much-loved, community-built trail that stretches for approximately 8 to 9 km, linking the township of Waipū Village with the golden sands of Waipū Cove. Designed as a safe and scenic alternative to cycling or walking along busy Cove Road, the pathway is suitable for all ages and abilities. It follows a gentle, mostly flat route that winds through open farmland, alongside native plantings, and past the edges of tranquil wetlands. Along the way, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Bream Bay, with its ever-changing tidal colours, and the dramatic silhouette of Mt Manaia rising across Whangārei Heads. Whether you’re walking, cycling, or out on an e-bike, it’s an enjoyable way to experience the landscape while connecting two of the region’s most popular destinations.
